Promotional letter for 1997 Marathon416 viewsThis letter was sent out to my small mailing list, along with the flier. I guess this was technically the first press release I ever wrote. Such was the strange, insular little Marathon world I had built for myself. (Neff)

CERTIFICATE1.jpg
2009 Shock Certificate414 viewsSince its inception, the Ohio Science Fiction Marathon has rewarded those hardy (read: insane) souls who have managed to survive its cinematic gauntlet by staying until the end of the event an Official Certificate of Marathoid Behavior (suitable for framing!) But in all of its various incarnations, the Ohio Horror Marathon had never followed suit. As early as the 1991 Night of the Living Drexel, there was discussion about creating a similar token of achievement for the Horrorthons, but nothing ever materialized (video evidence of this conversation exists...ahem, ahem...)

In 2009, when Bruce and I decided to resurrect the 24-Hour Horror format, we decided to finally follow through and create that long-mooted token. The result? A Horror Marathon certificate! Geez, it's a good thing that we took nearly two decades to come up with that one. But seriously, the general reaction to the certificate has been positive.

A trivia note for those of you with the time and inclination to obsess over such things: Bruce and I somehow crossed wires during the week of the event, so the program lists Noon as the time for "Presentation of Death Certificates", even though that was never the official name for them. (Neff)
